Piano Lessons

Objective

With 35 years of piano teaching experience, the goal of the piano course is to help the student progress as quickly as possible in mastering the instrument and in their expressive and musical ability.

The teaching is adapted to each person’s abilities and goals, but always with an aim for optimal progression. Enjoyment during learning is essential. Therefore, the approach method and the choice of repertoire are crucial to maintain enthusiasm and motivation.

One of the classrooms with an excellent new piano

The piano course focuses on:

  • Developing piano technique, particularly in relation to the demands of specific pieces in the repertoire
  • Developing musical and expressive sensitivity and the ability to engage the audience
  • Developing creativity through interpretation, improvisation, and for those who wish, composition
  • Developing various listening parameters (external, internal, melodic, polyphonic, harmonic flow, etc). The benefits of good listening are:
      • Developing an emotional connection with music and sound
      • Acquiring a singing and lively sound
      • The ability to make the interpretation clear and expressive
      • Resolving many technical difficulties

Our method

The widely spread and often sterile method of repeating the same passages over and over until they “enter the fingers” and memory (automatic pilot) is one of the main causes of frustration among student-pianists facing stagnation in their progress.

Indeed, not only does this way of working often make the interpretation mechanical and not very expressive, but also the piece worked on in this way is quickly forgotten when it is not played for some time. Thus, all the time and effort invested in memorizing the piece seems almost lost.

For this reason, we have developed a complete and innovative piano method for both beginner and advanced students, allowing the student to build on a sure and solid foundation and achieve rapid results with constant progress.

Moreover, we emphasize the methodology of home practice. Indeed, a good, effective, and intelligent practice method, involving thought, listening, and expression in a favorable psycho-affective context, greatly enhances piano progress in an extraordinary way.

What the piano lesson includes

Theoretical branches, sight-reading, and some improvisation are integrated into the teaching. Therefore, it is not essential to also take separate courses in music theory, harmony, sight-reading, etc.

For students who wish, a larger part of the lesson can be dedicated to improvisation and composition, provided they have acquired the basic notions of harmony.
